Freak show – film
Premiere – 9 May 2026, Millenium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival, Warsaw
What happens when the ‘freaks’ take centre stage? A group of young artists with disabilities, invited by the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, are creating a provocative “freak show” for the opening of the museum’s new premises. Their original reinterpretation of the freak show aims to challenge social norms and aesthetic canons, and to confront the audience with fear and stigmatisation. The premiere on Halloween becomes a manifesto of community and a redefinition of disability as a strength.
Freak Show is a cinematic story about a group of diverse young artists who challenge expectations and aesthetics – reality mixes with art, fiction and provocation, leading to a surprising finale.
